Industrial Engineer

I was born and raised in Guatemala, I lived and studied in Escuintla and Guatemala City, where I graduated as Industrial Engineer from San Carlos University from Guatemala. I moved to the USA in 1995. After 15 years in the USA I realized the life I left behind in Guatemala where there is a severe lack of education and health services in the rural areas, I decided in 2010 to join forces to create OSO with the help of a close friend from my childhood from Escuintla, a town from South Guatemala, Hector Roldan who is a practicing Surgeon from Huntsville, Ontario, Canada.

General Surgeon

I was born in Guatemala, and I am living presently in Huntsville Ontario since 2007. I had the opportunity to attend school in Guatemala and Canada. This gave me a great perspective of these two different worlds. I always had the passion to give back to my country. During my studies in medical school in Guatemala I saw the inequalities of life particularly in the rural areas of the country. My passion to serve and to improve the conditions of this country it keeps me motivated.

Semi-retired dentist

I have been on 2 mission trips to Guatemala and saw first hand the tremendous need for basic needs, both health and water related due to extreme poverty and lack of government services. I approached Hector to see if I could help with the dental clinic when I heard about the project. It is very exciting to be able to use all of my many talents to help promote such a valuable project.

Retired Dentist

Tom has led missions to India, Morocco and South America as well as offsite care in nursing and retirement homes. Ten years ago he was looking for an opportunity to establish a permanent centre. A phone call with Juan Carlos started the journey what is now the dental centre. Through contacts he was able to procure two complete dental offices. They have arrived and been installed as needed. It is a very proud moment to see a dream with the collaboration of many hand and hearts bring health and happiness to our global community.

ln my youth l got the privilege of being able to visit guatemala. What a beautiful country it was. However, many of its beauties were overshadowed by its poverty. I knew this was not right! OSO has given me the chance to give back and support this amazing cause.

Working with Dr Roldan in the Huntsville hospital I became aware of the fantastic work this team was doing. I was inspired by Optimum Services’ vision and the team’s commitment and persistence in pursuing it. I wanted to support the team bringing that vision to reality and making a difference in the community we serve.

Optimum Services has accomplished so much and is so close to making such a massive difference in the lives of people we serve. I hope that my small contribution can help to bring this to fruition a little bit sooner for the deserving people of the Jocotan community.

Fire Fighter / Paramedic

I was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala and raised in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. I obtained my Bachelor’s of Science in Emergency Medicine through the University of Pittsburgh. I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia where I work as a firefighter/paramedic. I’ve always believed that it is important to give back and serve in your community and it filled my heart when my father first told me his vision of giving back in such an amazing way. Guatemala is a beautiful country with a community that deserves more than it has and I take such honor in being able to be apart of the strive that OSO makes everyday to create an environment where people can live better lives.
